I've only had these for about 2 weeks as I write this review. But wearing hearing aids for over 20 years gives me some perspective on how these perform. The most valuable (and unique) feature is the ability to program them yourself. There is a software program you can download to your Windows PC that pretty much lets you change virtually any aspect of your hearing aids. It's an older program that should be run under Windows 8 settings. You can fine tune 4 different programs to handle different situations. I have a problem recognizing speech, so this is a very valuable feature. In addition to this software, there is an Android phone app called Lucid Hearing. This lets you change the overall volume, select programs, and even change the volume of different audio frequencies. With this app, you can adjust what you hear in different situations, and even save your settings.
Aside from self-adjustment, a number of different domes are included that allow you to control feedback and comfort. The rechargeable feature is nice, although the rechargeable batteries do not appear to last longer than about 2 days before rechanging is necessary (by way of comparison, other hearing aids I own with removeable batteries last from 4 - 7 days). These seem more vulnerable to feedback than others I have owned (but I'm still working on reducing this through the Windows program). Finally, these are apparently not moisture proof, which might present a problem in situations where I perspire.
Overall, I am happy with these, and give them 4 stars based primarily on the self-adjustment feature, which results in a set of hearing aids adaptable for virtually any situation. I can recommend these if you are comfortable doing your own adjustments. But short of that, these are still great hearing aids as programmed by America Hears.
